Israeli media reports indicate that Iran has launched a minimum 400 ballistic missiles toward Israel, prompting the activation of war sirens in Tel Aviv and various other regions.
State media has confirmed that Iran has launched a missile attack on Tel Aviv, the commercial center of Israel.
The state-operated IRNA news agency reported that Iran executed a “missile strike on Tel Aviv,” without giving further details.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have announced that the ongoing missile attack is in response to the recent killings of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and IRGC commander Nilforoushan.
“In response to the martyrdom of [Hamas leader] Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah and [Guards commander] Nilforoushan, we hit the heart of the occupied territories (Israel),” the Guards said in a statement reported by the Fars news agency. “.
The Guards also warned of more “crushing strikes” if Israel retaliated after the missile attack. “If the Zionist regime reacts to Iranian actions, it will face crushing attacks,” the statement added.
Earlier, a senior White House official claimed that Iran was preparing an immediate ballistic missile attack on Israel, warning that such an attack would have dire consequences for Iran.
According to foreign media, the White House official said that the United States has received indications that Iran is preparing a ballistic missile attack against Israel.
He added that they are actively cooperating with Israel in defensive preparations against this attack.
He added that any direct military attack by Iran on Israel would have serious consequences for Iran. It is noteworthy that concerns of a strong response from Iran have arisen following an Israeli attack in Lebanon that led to the martyrdom of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
It is worth noting that after the Israeli attack on the martyrdom of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon, there have been fears of a strong response from Iran.
Earlier in April, the US and Western allies stepped in to defend Israel following an attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria, when Iran launched simultaneous missile and drone attacks on Israel.
On the other hand, Iran said that the martyrdom of Nasrallah will lead to the destruction of Israel. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry clarified that it is not sending its army to Lebanon to confront Israel.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran that there is no place in the Middle East that Israel cannot reach and that the time when Iran will be free is closer than people think.
The United States called for a ceasefire in the region after Nasrallah’s death, and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Washington was closely monitoring events in the Middle East.
During a meeting with Nasser Bourita, his Moroccan counterpart at the State Department, Blinken reiterated America’s commitment to Israel’s defence.
Yesterday, Washington said it was adding several thousand troops to its military presence in the Middle East, deploying new units, and extending the duration of those already deployed.
The Pentagon also said that additional shipments of warplanes are being deployed to the Middle East.
