Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has terminated his contract with a surrogate betting company after warning from the Pakistan Cricket Board and social media outrage.
Amir, who is set to return to the national team, is criticized for his contract with a betting company. The 32-year-old, however, canceled his one-year contract with the betting site.
Under the deal, the betting site paid Amir Rs1.25 crore, while the cricketer signed up to support the company on social media.
The Pakistan Cricket Board earlier issued a statement accusing the surrogate betting company of not using Amir’s photo for its advertising campaign after his inclusion in the national team.
Amir was also informed that the board did not authorize such agreements with betting companies and that he should not participate in such advertisements.
Reports suggest that the betting company also removed Amir’s clips from social media.
