TEHRAN – Iranian authorities have allowed the two Pakistani crew members of a recently seized vessel linked to Israel to return to their home country, it was reported Tuesday.
According to reports, Iran sent a message through diplomatic channels that the Pakistani crew was free to leave. The captain of the seized vessel has the authority to allow the crew to leave.
The development comes after the Pakistani Foreign Ministry contacted Iranian authorities for the safe return of Pakistani nationals on board the ship.
Iran seized the ship near the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions in the region following a deadly Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps lost seven members, including two generals, during the Israeli attack in Syria.
