RAWALPINDI – A senior official of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was kidnapped from Rawalpindi for ransom earlier this month.
Rahmatullah Khan, an 18th grade officer of the Inland Revenue Services of the FBR, was abducted by unknown persons on April 12 during the Eidul Fitr holidays, according to the first information report (FIR) registered by the police after receiving a complaint from the official’s brother-in-law.
The complainant said Khan left the house at 11 am on April 12 saying he was going to wish his friends Eid greetings. His cell phone has since been turned off and he has also disappeared.
The police filed an FIR regarding the kidnapping of the FBR officer on April 15. The brother-in-law of the missing officer revealed that he received a call from a Sindhi-speaking person demanding a ransom of Rs 10 million.
The kidnappers told him that Rahmatullah Khan was in their custody in the Katch area, known for the presence of dacoits and other criminal elements.
The police have opened an investigation into this.
