Fee update for New Weapons License in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani citizens must obtain a license from the Interior Ministry to possess weapons of non-prohibited and prohibited caliber.

The ministry issues a permit after verifying the documents submitted by the applicant to obtain the weapons permit. You must meet the following conditions before applying for the new weapons permit:

  • Valid CNIC or NICOP
  • Age 25
  • Not considered inappropriate by local police
  • Neither a banned person, nor a member of a banned organization, nor suspected of being involved in anti-state activity.
  • Not be physically, mentally or psychologically incapable of carrying a weapon

Procedure for issuing a weapons license

Here is the step-by-step process to obtain the weapons license:

  • Request approval from Ministry of Interior
  • Issuance of the approval letter
  • Uploading the approval to the NADRA system through an online process by the Ministry of Interior
  • Biometric data of licensee within prescribed time frame and issuance of notice of application (both by NADRA)
  • Purchasing a weapon from an authorized dealer and seizing it upon request
  • Entering the request note in the concerned DC office
  • Submission of application note in NADRA for issuance of license

Documents required for issuing a new weapons license

  • Request (handwritten or typed) addressed to the Section Officer (Arms), M/O Interior.
  • Photocopy of CNIC (certified)
  • Criminal record certificate
  • Affidavit (certificate of Notri public)
  • Applicant’s documents (if applicable)

Pricing structure for new weapons licenses

The fees for a new weapons License include government fees and Nadra fees. The total fees for the banned licenses are Rs28,000 (25,000 Government Fee and Rs 3,000 Nadra Fee).

The government fee for non-prohibited licenses is Rs 12,500 while the Nadra fee is Rs 1,500, making a total fee of Rs 1,400.

In case the declarant complies with the prescribed tax ceiling (100,000/- for PB and 50,000/- for NPB) for each category of arms license, it will be reduced by half.
